The summer camp is designed for 13-18 year olds.

An 18+ separate course is available on request.

Allowing college/university students and families to take part in our summer camp as well as younger people. We specifically design our courses and activities towards the different age ranges to cater for the specific requirements.

Meet the team


Camp Director: Dr Rainer Wiedmann

Rainer is responsible for all Camp programme features and activities and works closely with the Camp Manager, Huw.

Berchtesgaden is Rainer’s second home, and he has had connection to the area for many years.


Camp Manager: Huw

Our friendly and knowledgeable Camp Manager, Huw, is there to make sure participants get the most from their time at Berchtesgaden Intercultural Camp, supervising activities and ensuring that participants are safe and happy at all times.

After studying Environmental Science at university I have worked in environmental and outdoor education teaching many different ages and backgrounds about sustainability, including renewable energies, electric cars, nature and  biodiversity as well as many other topics.

I am passionate about the outdoors and nature enjoying hiking, camping, bushcraft, surfing, canoeing and much more! I also love to juggle and ride a unicycle!

 I look forward to meeting you and finding out your passions and interests!


Language Director: Roni Snell

Roni will be responsible for developing the language programme with help from Amy ensuring that participants get the best language learning experience possible.

Director of studies at Norwich Study Centre (Flying Classrooms)

Roni has worked as an English language teacher in adult education for over 15 years in Hong Kong and New Zealand. She has also taught English to refugees and asylum seekers in London. Roni has designed and taught training courses for Norwich Union Insurance and English courses for Nurses. She is particularly interested in assessment and evaluation of student progress and in teacher education & continued professional development. She is recently completed studying for a MA in Applied Linguistics.


Activity Leader: Fabian

Fabian is a native speaker of German and helps to organise and coordinate the camp. As a future teacher of English and history he is the guide for cultural activities, such as the visit to the Eagle’s Nest or the Museum.


Language Assistant Director: Amy

Amy will be helping Roni develop the language programme ensuring that participants get the best language learning experience possible.

I am a CELTA qualified teacher and have been teaching for over 7 years. I have experience teaching students at all ages and levels in the UK, Thailand and Italy. I love teaching because I have the opportunity to meet so many different people from different countries. I really enjoy learning about new cultures and sharing my knowledge and experiences.

Established in 2000, Norwich Study Centre, Flying Classrooms is an English language school with nearly twenty years of experience hosting and providing English language education to students from all over the world. We are accredited by the British Council, and a member of English UK.

Providing year-round English language education as well as Professional Development courses, including Intercultural Training, we are proud to launch Berchtesgaden Intercultural Camp as part of our commitment to promoting global citizenship and excellent language tuition.

Our teaching team is made up of qualified and experienced teachers from Norwich Study Centre. Using our dedicated resources, our teachers will help you not only to improve your language competence, but also to develop valuable personal, social and life skills.

Christian Association of Youth Villages (CJD)

Berchtesgaden Intercultural Camp is based at CJD Berchtesgaden boarding school winner of the Olympic “elite school of the year” 2018. The motto of the CJD is “No one should be lost”: the CJD is committed to the belief that everyone has a share in life and society. As part of this commitment, CJD Berchtesgaden provides vocational training to students with physical and learning disabilities.
